Never underestimate the ability of a goat kid only two and a half months old to get into trouble.Yesterday, our new little buck tried to jump out of his stall. He didn't make it. Instead he fell into the tiny crevice between the front and back side of the stall's outer wall. Good thing the manager made one last check on him before night!
The Dorothy Day Catholic Worker Farm will be getting into keeping bees (and harvesting honey) starting in April. By God's Providence, a brand new beekeeping company opened up in nearby Wilkes-Barre on Saturday! With the help of volunteer Eric Lipscomb, an experienced beekeeper and chef, the farm has acquired the proper equipment for the venture.
Yesterday, the farm acquired a male Boer goat promptly named Goaty, after the favorite childhood stuffed animal of the manager's daughter. Goaty is two months old and a voracious eater. Temporarily penned in by a pile of hay, he tried to eat his way out of his pen! A gate was quickly built, and Goaty now has a cozy little place to call home.
