Ten years ago today, on February 28, 2013, Larry and John drove from the Lehigh Valley up to the Back Mountain and purchase 11 acres in Harveys Lake and the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker Farm was born.
Ten years have gone by pretty fast! So many visitors, volunteers, friends, sheep, goats, chickens, pigs, vegetables - too may to count. Our mission to “create a new society within the shell of the old” through a radical witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ continues by the grace of God.
We are grateful to all of our supporters who have donated time, talent and treasure to make the farm a place of prayer and work (Ora et Labora), peace and rest, for all who walk these grounds. We are especially thankful for all the priests who have offered the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in our chapel. The Eucharist continues to keep us grounded in the reality that God is present with us.
Please pray for us as we enter our second decade of welcoming our brothers and sisters in Christ to the farm. Quite an adventure!
The greatest challenge of the day is: how to bring about a revolution of the heart, a revolution that has to start with each one of us.
