Things are really getting busy on the farm. We are still awaiting the birth of our goat kids - two does are on the verge. Larry is looking forward to a summer of milking. We love the taste of goat milk, and goat cheese is fun and easy to make.
Shearing Day was a huge success! The weather was perfect. Our shearer Hoyt is such a professional, and everything went very smoothly. We had three college students from Misericordia, Wilkes, and Kings come to help, and we enjoyed some good fellowship over dinner. What a great day!
Marian Catholic High School in Tamaqua, PA, has been sending their students to us to prep the soil for planting. What a great group of young people! They helped us move the hay/sheep manure compost to the field where we will plant this summer. Larry will till that into the soil for a very effective fertilizer. They also helped with some work needed on the milking station. Just need to get the roof put on now.
As we have been doing for years now, we are picking up plants this week from our friends at Willow Haven Farm in New Tripoli, PA. Please support this amazing CSA if you live in the Lehigh Valley. They have been extremely generous to us since our humble beginnings on the farm. We hope to get the plants in the ground this weekend. Please keep us in prayer as the new season begins!
Larry and our good friend Marcus Daly of Marian Caskets have started a podcast called Die Human. It is an enjoyable conversation about faith, life, and dying well. Take a listen, and check out the beautiful work Marcus does.
Larry has been very busy with his blog and articles in Catholic World Report and the National Catholic Register. You can find links to all his latest musings on his blog.
We are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year with a trip to their favorite city - Rome! Please pray for safe travels and a renewal of our commitment to each other and to God’s will for us in our mission.
